Alive

“I see you followed my signal,” Nyreen says. Her blood is blue, but from the right angle it looks purple in Omega’s red lights, like Aria’s own.

“I watched you die. I watched you blow yourself to pieces.”

“You think I’m going to let you off the hook that easily?”

Aria butts her forehead against Nyreen’s, who coughs weakly. She’s burnt and bloody; not quick enough out of the blast radius, however she escaped.

“When you don’t look like shit I’m going to beat the crap out of you for trying to die for me.”

“Not for you,” Nyreen wheezes, or laughs, maybe, but pushes her face forward to press their brows together again. “You think I’d give you a reason to tear the system apart? Get someone to take Petrovsky’s corpse down from the entrance to Afterlife before you get me out of here.”

Aria chuckles. She’s wordy as shit, even now. “I gave him to Shepard. Alive. The Alliance can deal with him.”

Nyreen hums. “She’s a good influence on you.”

“You would think that.”
